Our latest  #Chooseday comp was one of curiosity. We wanted to see how you eat your peanut butter (or if you eat it at all). If you’re like us, and we’re sure you are, you love peanuts and everything peanut flavoured. That’s why peanut butter is so amazing, smooth or crunchy, it’s truly to die for.

195 people joined in to tell us their favourite way to enjoy peanut butter – but what were the results?

Only three people said they enjoyed peanut butter on their breakfast. Over the years, peanut butter has been used in a range of mysterious and interesting ways and some people love it this way. One of the weirdest we’ve heard is Peanut Butter Eggs Benedict. Weird or wonderful? You tell us!

Ten people said they they enjoyed Peanut Butter in a milkshake. We think that peanuts are amazing in a milkshake, especially in the heat! Did you know that Peanut Hottie can be enjoyed this way? Check out the recipe here!

20 people said they didn’t like peanut butter at all – how sad! We couldn’t imagine a life without peanut butter on EVERYTHING. Have you heard of the many health benefits of eating it? Research shows that eating peanuts can decrease your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic health conditions. Healthy and delicious!

39 people said that they eat Peanut Butter straight from the jar. We must admit that we’re guilty of this too! It’s hard to resist and we can’t help but grab a spoon when we’re feeling a little peckish – yummy!

A whopping 109 people said their favourite was peanut butter on toast. We feel you – it’s amazing! Peanut butter on toast is the best treat, any time of the day. It’s no wonder that this was the most favoured way to enjoy peanut butter.

One of the choices was enjoying a Peanut Hottie. We don’t blame you if you voted for this, we’re pretty good. Peanut Hottie is delicious and only 83 calories – what more could you want? We feel like more people would of voted for Peanut Hottie if they knew that it can be used in recipes. OMG – WHAT?

Yeah, we’re not joking. We have a whole page dedicated to recipes and it’s forever growing with people all over creating amazing recipes for us to share. From oats to cake and milkshakes to pizza, we’ve got it covered. Take a look and tell us what you think!

  • #NuttyNews

Now we are well and truly in to winter, we are already witnessing Christmas related nutty news this week.
Here are a couple of stories that have caught our eye.

A 76 year old, road kill enthusiast from Cornwall, has stated that he will be replacing a Turkey dinner for a more unusual choice, Dolphin!  Eccentric Arthur Boyt found the dolphin washed up on a beach near his house, and thought it would be a fitting accompaniment to his sprouts this Christmas dinner.  Last year Arthur tucked in to badger casserole. What do you think? Brave or just nuts?!

In other news, a woman has sent her cat an advent calendar in the post, but the cat isn’t able to collect it as it doesn’t have ID! As no one was in to sign for the parcel that was addressed to the cat, it was carted off to the local post office who are stating they need to see proof of identification before releasing the gift. Oh dear, we hope this furry feline receives his calendar soon as, he is already 11 days behind!

Finally, sprouts. The vegetable that divides the nation on Christmas day, do we love them or hate them? If it is the latter, you should try pickling them!  In the run up to Christmas, newspapers are posting all sorts of recipes to help out their readers, this week we have seen ‘how-to’ pickle sprouts. Like the sound of this? With sprouts growing up to the size of golf balls this year, why don’t you try it and let us know. Rather you than us!

That is all for nutty news this week, let us know what Christmas nuttiness you’ve been up to!

  • #NuttyNews

This weeks weird, wonderful and nutty news includes a hiccuping mum, a thrill seeker in heels and a nutty invention!

    Screen Shot 2015-11-11 at 16.05.43

In real nutty news,  a Canadian restaurant chain has introduced a beef burger, topped with bacon, crispy onions and wait for it… Reece’s Peanut Butter cups.
The wacky burger received mixed reviews from diners but the majority pronounced the crazy creation a success even if it did confuse their tastebuds.

Why don’t you re-create this burger using Peanut Hottie and decide for yourselves!

Elsewhere, a 26 year old Texan woman tackles a high line 840 metres above the ground in HEELS!

Faith Dickey, claims she did this completely nutty manoeuvre in order to find humour in stereotypes and to represent and inspire fellow women. Surprisingly, she describes the process of managing fear and remaining calm as being extremely meditative.
How nutty! I think we will leave one safely with the professionals.

Finally a frustrated mum, Lisa Graves’ announces she has suffered from hiccups every day of her life for the past 8 years. This tricky bout of hiccups developed whilst Lisa Graves’ was pregnant and have continued ever since, with up to 100 hiccups every day!

The troublesome outbursts have disrupted bingo games, cinema trips, and quiet romantic meals with a noise described to that of a dinosaur!
Obvious hiccup remedies such as drinking upside down, or being shocked have been attempted but with zero success., leaving Graves’ fearing that the hiccups will never end.

    Fingers crossed!

What nuttiness are you up to over the weekend? Let us know via Facebook or Twitter

  • Nutty things we’ve seen in the news this week!

This week much loved television presenter Carol Vorderman admitted on her twitter that she is “covered in burns” after falling off a treadmill whilst running naked. The 54 year old revealed that she tripped whilst using the machine and ended up trapped up against a wall.

Of course this left many of her twitter followers asking the obvious question “Why were you running on the treadmill naked?”. Vorderman has answered her fans by claiming she was in running in the nude because she was “too hot”.

Elsewhere, young Norwegian Swimmer, Marius Solaat Rødland proved that his talents don’t stop at front crawl and butterfly. He has been filmed completing three Rubik’s Cubes underwater in just one breath

His friend holds him under the water as he successfully tackles all three puzzles in less than 1 minute and 30 seconds…and breathe! Don’t try either of these at home!

  • Nutty things we’ve seen in the news this week!

Here at Peanut Hottie HQ we love a nutty story. This week, we’ve been on the look-out for some of the nuttiest things you guys have been up to this summer.

Have you seen Damien ‘Flamien’ Walters? This stunt-nutter gets extra hot by putting on a ‘fire suit’, setting himself alight and going for a run through the forest! We think he could do with a nice Peanut Hottie milkshake to cool himself down…

In another video that we witnessed (with out eyes shut very tightly), Damien is not on fire this time, but bungee jumping off the top of a crane! Now we know you’re probably thinking, ‘guys, that’s not that nutty!’ Well Damien is one step ahead of us and he’s not doing this all strapped up with harnesses, oh no. He’s just holding on to the end of the bungee cord with his hands, and letting go at the bottom! What a nutter!

We recommend that you do not try this at home. Instead, sit down with a glass / mug of Peanut Hottie, as our nutty goodness will give you the same thrilling feeling! #PeanutLove

  • Peanut Hottie – Product Recall

    ***UPDATED***

    Date: Friday 31st July

Product affected: Peanut Hottie Peanut Butter Flavour Hot Drink

Batch number affected: B: 157384 and Expiry Date: 16/10/16

Retailers affected: Morrisons and Tesco only

A small batch of ‘Peanut Hottie’ Peanut Butter Flavour Hot Drink is being recalled because of a packaging error. Products labelled Peanut Butter Flavour Hot Drink actually contain Peanut Butter and Chocolate Flavour Hot Drink which contains soya – this is not included on the label. The product is therefore a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to soya.

The recall only affects approximately 1,000 bottles of Peanut Hottie being sold in Tesco or Morrisons. It is believed that only a very small number of which have made their way on to supermarket shelves as most have been stopped at store depots.

Lisa Gawthorne, Managing Director of Bravura Foods, the makers of Peanut Hottie, said: “We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused to customers who may have purchased product from the batch affected by incorrect labelling. The label does say that the product may contain traces of soya which we are hoping would have deterred anyone with a soya allergy from buying.

“We are working with the Food Standards Agency to minimise impact and let allergy sufferers know about the error.

“We believe that as few as 30 bottles of the affected product have made their way on to supermarket shelves. We’re currently working with Morrisons and Tesco to recall all products under the affected batch number.”

If you have bought the affected product it can be returned to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Allergy UK, the leading national charity dedicated to supporting the estimated 21 million allergy sufferers in the UK, issued an allergy alert after being approached by Bravura Foods.

In its statement, the charity thanked Bravura Foods for their ‘prompt and responsible attitude to this allergy alert and for covering all our mailing costs’.

Anyone with concerns can contact Allergy UK via its Helpline; 01322 619898.

  • Fun Facts For You Peanut Butter Nutters!

Whether you’re Team Crunchy (Woo!) or Team Smooth (Boo!), you know how good peanut butter is and how well it goes with pretty much anything. We’ve been going through quite a lot of recipe blog posts recently, so how about something different?
Below are some lesser known facts about peanut butter that’ll have you dominating any peanut butter categories at your local pub quiz!

It doesn’t just taste good, it is good for you

Just like how the sugar in oranges aren’t the same as in candy floss, the fat in peanut butter isn’t the bad fat you should be avoiding. In fact, a lot of diets allow peanut butter – just ask Holly McCord who wrote The Peanut Butter Diet: The Amazing Plan That Lets You Lost Weight, Lower Your Cholesterol, Slash Your Risk of Heart Disease and Diabetes. Peanuts are even one of the best sources of magnesium, so put that in your diet and eat it!

    It’s so versatile!

Hungry for some breakfast? (Remember people, it’s the most important meal of the day!) Then thwack some peanut butter onto toast. Is your belly letting you know it’s dinner time? Get some crispy-roasted Indonesian peanut wings cooking! Are you having the eternal “Should I have/skip dessert?!” debate? Well, if we said you could have peanut butter ice cream with concord grape coulis, that might help you decide.

    Smooth vs Crunchy

Studies show that women and children like smooth peanut butter the most, whereas men like crunchy peanut butter the most. Remember to let us know what team you’re on over on out Twitter and Facebook pages!
The Fear and Loathing of Peanut Butter

Arachibutyrophobia – no, we didn’t just lean on our laptop by accident. Arachibutyrophobia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth. That just sounds like saving a snack for later to us!

    Peanut Butter > Barack Obama?

Presidents get a day, Easter gets a week but peanut butter gets a whole month! November is when you should be flaunting your love for all things peanut buttery. If that isn’t proof that peanut butter is the best thing since sliced bread, it’s definitely proof it’s the best thing spread on it!
Make sure to tell us about any more peanut butter facts you might know over on our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages! But beware, the Instagram feed will make you very, very hungry.
