  • #NuttyNews

Now we are well and truly in to winter, we are already witnessing Christmas related nutty news this week.
Here are a couple of stories that have caught our eye.

A 76 year old, road kill enthusiast from Cornwall, has stated that he will be replacing a Turkey dinner for a more unusual choice, Dolphin!  Eccentric Arthur Boyt found the dolphin washed up on a beach near his house, and thought it would be a fitting accompaniment to his sprouts this Christmas dinner.  Last year Arthur tucked in to badger casserole. What do you think? Brave or just nuts?!

In other news, a woman has sent her cat an advent calendar in the post, but the cat isn’t able to collect it as it doesn’t have ID! As no one was in to sign for the parcel that was addressed to the cat, it was carted off to the local post office who are stating they need to see proof of identification before releasing the gift. Oh dear, we hope this furry feline receives his calendar soon as, he is already 11 days behind!

Finally, sprouts. The vegetable that divides the nation on Christmas day, do we love them or hate them? If it is the latter, you should try pickling them!  In the run up to Christmas, newspapers are posting all sorts of recipes to help out their readers, this week we have seen ‘how-to’ pickle sprouts. Like the sound of this? With sprouts growing up to the size of golf balls this year, why don’t you try it and let us know. Rather you than us!

That is all for nutty news this week, let us know what Christmas nuttiness you’ve been up to!

This weeks weird, wonderful and nutty news includes a hiccuping mum, a thrill seeker in heels and a nutty invention!

In real nutty news,  a Canadian restaurant chain has introduced a beef burger, topped with bacon, crispy onions and wait for it… Reece’s Peanut Butter cups.
The wacky burger received mixed reviews from diners but the majority pronounced the crazy creation a success even if it did confuse their tastebuds.

Why don’t you re-create this burger using Peanut Hottie and decide for yourselves!

Elsewhere, a 26 year old Texan woman tackles a high line 840 metres above the ground in HEELS!

Faith Dickey, claims she did this completely nutty manoeuvre in order to find humour in stereotypes and to represent and inspire fellow women. Surprisingly, she describes the process of managing fear and remaining calm as being extremely meditative.
How nutty! I think we will leave one safely with the professionals.

Finally a frustrated mum, Lisa Graves’ announces she has suffered from hiccups every day of her life for the past 8 years. This tricky bout of hiccups developed whilst Lisa Graves’ was pregnant and have continued ever since, with up to 100 hiccups every day!

The troublesome outbursts have disrupted bingo games, cinema trips, and quiet romantic meals with a noise described to that of a dinosaur!
Obvious hiccup remedies such as drinking upside down, or being shocked have been attempted but with zero success., leaving Graves’ fearing that the hiccups will never end.

    Fingers crossed!

    Walnut Guinness World Record

This weeks world of nutty news includes Buzz Lightyear being refused a driving licence and a nutty world record!

This week a martial arts student from Pakistan smashed his was into the Guinness World Record Books by smashing the most amount of walnuts in a minute using a nunchaku!

Mujaba Hassan Mughal thumped his was through 97 Walnuts in just 60 seconds using his nunchaku. Mughal smashed the previous record of 62 nuts that was held by American, Samuel Sprague.

We all have our childhood heroes, but legally changing your name to a Disney character is a little nutty don’t you think? Well, 26 year old Buzz Lightyear did just that!

Originally named Sam Stevens, the Disney nut changed his name to Toy Story favourite ‘Buzz Lightyear’ after he reached a £2,000 cancer charity fund raising target for the Brighton Marathon.

The name change happened in April, shortly after finishing the marathon dressed as his favourite cartoon character. But Buzz was quickly brought back to reality when the DVLA refused to issue him a driving licence! Their reason for doing so was that the fictional character’s name could bring the company into “disrepute”, particularly abroad.

Sam Stevens has now reverted back to his birth name and said “The name change was never about me – it was about raising money and awareness for CLIC Sargent”.

  • Nutty things we’ve seen in the news this week!

This week much loved television presenter Carol Vorderman admitted on her twitter that she is “covered in burns” after falling off a treadmill whilst running naked. The 54 year old revealed that she tripped whilst using the machine and ended up trapped up against a wall.

Of course this left many of her twitter followers asking the obvious question “Why were you running on the treadmill naked?”. Vorderman has answered her fans by claiming she was in running in the nude because she was “too hot”.

Elsewhere, young Norwegian Swimmer, Marius Solaat Rødland proved that his talents don’t stop at front crawl and butterfly. He has been filmed completing three Rubik’s Cubes underwater in just one breath

His friend holds him under the water as he successfully tackles all three puzzles in less than 1 minute and 30 seconds…and breathe! Don’t try either of these at home!

  • A nutty weekend ahead

A 35 metre high glass swimming pool? This is NUTS!

    London Sky Pool

London’s latest property development is two apartment blocks situated in Embassy Gardens. The two ten-story buildings will be joined by a glass swimming pool bridge which is suspended 35 metres high in the air. The pool will only be available to residents, so if you have £602,000 spare you can go for a dip!

    Would you take the plunge?

August is being brought to a soggy end by gales, torrential downpours and storms. The UK are on alert for tropical storms this weekend.

We are being warned that a mix of warm and cool air could produce small tornadoes across the country. Warm temperatures throughout the weekend will be met with mass rainfall creating a humid atmosphere and experts are saying that apart from a glimpse of sunshine over the August bank holiday weekend… summer could be over!

We suggest you stay out of the downpour and get cosy on the couch with a mug of Peanut Hottie whilst watching the TV.

(P.s ‘Calendar Girls’ is on BBC 2 at 22.10 on Saturday)

  • Nutty things we’ve seen in the news this week!

Unsurprisingly, we’re all about nuts here at Peanut Hottie, so we’re going to show you a few stories that we thought were too nutty to keep to ourselves.

Did you see this?! 164 skydivers break the word record for the largest vertical formation in Illinois . Whilst creating the flower formation, the skydivers hit speeds of up to 240mph. It took this nutty  team 13 attempts to beat the last world record set by 138 skydivers in 2012.

A chip shop created a 500-calorie fried milkshake… dubbed ‘chipshakes’. The concoction is made by setting milkshakes in an ice cube tray, coating them in batter, then frying them into a crispy battered ball, which oozes milkshake. You’re able to buy the chipshakes from a Lancashire chippy, Mister Eaters in Preston. Hmmm we think we’ll stick to Peanut Hottie shakes in the future thanks!

Daredevil Nik Wallenda completed his longest ever tightrope walk at the Wisconsin State Fair. This nutty beast was suspended more than 10 storeys above the Milwaukee Mile Speedway crossing the tightrope spanning 480m long. Nik is no stranger to stunts like this, he previously walked across Niagara Falls in 2012 and the Grand Canyon in 2013. Way to go Nik!
